Vancouver Canucks defenceman Jacob Markstrom placed fourth in the Vezina voting for the league’s top goaltender.
Markstrom, 30, had a career best season this year with the Canucks. He posted a 23-16-4 record in 43 starts with a .918 save percentage.
He received one second place vote and four third place votes.
With Markstrom in net, the Canucks were outshot 1420-1317 (-103) while they outscored their opponents 130-117 (+13).
Markstrom was named as the Canucks nominee for the Bill Masterton trophy awarded annually by the PHWA to the player who “best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.”
His father passed away in November after a battle with cancer and Markstrom took a leave of absence a month later to be with his family.
