With the inability to clear out the needed cap space, it appears that Vancouver Canucks forward Tyler Toffoli will be hitting the free agent market.
TSN’s Rick Dhaliwal broke the news Tuesday afternoon.
Toffoli, 28, was acquired by the Canucks from the LA Kings on Feb. 17, 2020 in exchange for Tim Schaller, Tyler Madden and Vancouver’s 2nd round pick in tonight’s draft.
Toffoli stepped in and was a contributor right away for the Canucks scoring six goals and 10 points in 10 games. He battled injury in the playoffs scoring two goals and as many assists in seven games in the playoffs.
Toffoli appears to be the first cap casualty of the Canucks.
