A little high if his play falls off if tocchet changes all the lines up for a few months and he gets the Holgander experience but only 500k too high maybe

On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks inked forward Drew O’Connor to a two-year contract extension with an annual average value of $2.5 million annually. We’ve broken down the deal a bit already, but what did fans have to say? Let’s dive in!
CanucksArmy comment section
Craig Gowan: I am very pleased with this contract. Reasonable term and money for a guy that adds speed and size and has some skill as well. I’ve enjoyed watching him as a Canuck and he hasn’t looked out of place on the Top 6 line with Boeser and Chytil. It also solidifies the return for JT Miller because M Pettersson, Mancini, Chytil and O’Connor are all under contract on multi-year deals…. and Desharnais and Heinen were dispatched as they weren’t fitting in.
BobbyCanucks: Not bad but many Canucks fans including myself (15 Year season ticket holder) believe that it’s disrespectful to Brock not making him priority #1. They should have resigned Brock first and then Marcus and Drew
just my take… Those who say let’s trade Brock? This team already has issues with scoring goals. He is the only pure goal-scorer on the team. $8 Mill X 7….Get it done!!!

Ryan B: I like this deal, reasonable term and amount. If he outperforms this, he’s in-line for a decent raise when the cap increases.
FV Fan: Excellent work here. Both players that could have been rentals, now signed for decently priced deals. Big check marks for Rutherford and Allvin.
Kootenaydude: Canucks love their middle six forwards. Now we’ve got an entire roster full of them. No high end talent in sight. Welcome to the mushy middle.
DerekP63: Great signing. He probably could have got more years and money if he went to free agency. Glad he’s locked up for now.
Hawks Pass: Should give him ample time to evolve into that number one left-winger they don’t have. Now all they need is a number one C and a number one right winger and everything is all fixed up.
RagnarokOroboros: He does appear to be a diamond in the rough. Reminds me of Pius Suter. Love his size and speed.
Rusty Bee: Smart contract on both sides.
BigBA: Trades just keep getting better. 2.5 mil is perfect, 4 years was my hope, however, at least we have him for two more years
defenceman factory: That puts the Canucks at 9 forwards on the current roster signed for next year. Doc looks like a decent add so far.
Twitter:
Yes he seems like a solid young player with way above average speed. Good contract to see if he continues to develop
Signing someone at 2.5 for next 2 years with cap going up to 100 mil is like signing at 1.5 with at this years cap. So he’s actually a bargain
0 issues. Allvin and Rutherford I trust. They are changing this team and retooling. Big stuff to come.
2 million would've been better but I can live with 2.5 million
Management seems to have made great move after great move. Only issue seems to be their best forwards utterly flaking out on them.
Facebook:
Jonathan Hiqiniq: Speedy and good with the puck. Awesome extension.
Patrick Hastings: Sure. But none of this matters with the disaster Pettersson has become.
Ryan M Krutz: It’s great. new guy brings something new to the team. Speed and puck control are valuable. With the cap going up so much this 2.5 is nothing. Good job PA.
Casey Fitzgibbon: 2.5 AAV seems like a really good deal for what he brings to the table. Particularly with the cap set to be going up.
Jack N: He’s only 25 and long as he keeps getting better for them it will be good. I would’ve felt better at 2M/year but 2 years is a good gamble.
Tyler Forman: Sample size seems alittle small to just be giving money, but I’ve liked what ive seen so far.
Duncan McGeorge: He’s a better version of Heinen for the same money.. this seems like a much better valued experiment.
Benny H. Steelhead: Even if he doesn’t produce he brings all the intangibles. Put him with some skill and that’ll be a surplus contract.
Chris Punter: Term is good. I think its 750k-1 million too much. But if he can get 15-20 goals next year it’ll be a bargain.
Bryan Wilhelm: Wasn’t the highest on moving him when he was in PIT. I hope he succeeds and adds another level of offense to his game. Easy to root for and works hard.
Chris Peereboom: Considering projections were around 3-3.5 a year and this is only 2 years, I’m happy. Looked good so far, similar to a lot of our other wingers in terms of flexibility on what line he can play on 2-4.
