Vancouver-born Macklin Celebrini has been named a finalist for the 2025-26 Ted Lindsay Award. The NHL announced the Sharks forward’s nomination, along with Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid and Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, on Tuesday.
The Lindsay Award is given out annually to the player judged to be the most outstanding in the NHL regular season. It is the only major NHL award solely decided by the players, carrying on the tradition of the former Lester B. Pearson Award.
This is Celebrini’s first nomination for the award. Last season, Celebrini finished third in voting for the Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s top rookie. Montreal’s Lane Hutson took home that hardware, with Calgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf finishing as the runner up. After putting up an impressive 63 points in 70 games during his rookie campaign, Celebrini broke out in a big way during the 2025-26 season, tallying 45 goals and 70 assists through 82 games.

Celebrini nearly single-handedly dragged the Sharks into a playoff spot, as San Jose missed out on the second wild card spot by just four points in the standings. To help put Celebrini’s production on the Sharks into perspective, consider that the player who finished second on the Sharks in scoring was Will Smith, who put up 59 points in 69 games. Celebrini truly was on an island when it came to producing for the Sharks this season:
It’s no wonder he’s getting this kind of recognition from his peers even though the Sharks missed the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if Celebrini is announced as a top three Hart Trophy finalist when the NHL announces those nominees in the near future.

NHL announces Vezina Trophy finalists

On Wednesday, the NHL also announced the finalists for the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the league’s top goaltender.
This year’s nominees are: Ilya Sorokin, New York Islanders; Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning; and Jeremy Swayman, Boston Bruins.
Somewhat surprisingly, NHL save percentage leader Scott Wedgewood did not finish as a finalist in this year’s voting. Wedegwood’s .921 save percentage and 31-6-6 record put him in a tier of his own this season:
The Vezina Trophy is voted on by all 32 NHL General Managers. Connor Hellebuyck won the award last season and also took home the Hart Trophy as league MVP, as voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association.
