Defenceman Travis Dermott will wear number 24 with the Canucks, the club announced Monday morning.
As a member of the Leafs, Dermott briefly wore number 3 before switching to 23.
Dermott was acquired yesterday by the Canucks in exchange for a third-round pick. Shortly before, the Canucks swapped out Travis Hamonic for a third-round pick in a deal with the Ottawa Senators.
âWe talked about getting a little bit younger, Travis [Dermott] can play both the left and right side, and our pro scout and analytics department were excited about him,â said Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin. âIâve had the opportunity to follow him for a couple of years here. I donât make emotional decisions after wins and losses. This is part of the process of getting younger and also creating some cap space.â
âIâm super excited to be a Canuck going forward. Excited to meet the boys and get everything started,â Dermott told media yesterday.
