The season may have concluded here for the Canucks but there are still a few players within the organization playing and this past weekend was not kind to them.

Prospect Michael DiPietro and the Ottawa 67’s have yet to lose a game this post-season and were looking poised to keep that streak alive. Unfortunately, DiPietro suffered this injury on Saturday afternoon

At the time, the worst was thought to have occured to DiPietro with many thinking he had an Achilles or high ankle sprain that could result in him missing an extended period of time. Which given how he reacted, was a reasonable conclusion.

However, it has been reported by the 67’s that the injury was, in fact, an ankle sprain but isn’t as severe as originally anticipated. DiPietro won’t play tonight for the 67’s and isn’t expected to be available for Game 4 or Wednesday but they are optimistic that he will play again this year, which suggests that they think he can be ready for the Memorial Cup.

The 67’s were able to continue their unbeaten streak and hold a 2-0 series lead over Guelph.

The Canucks are well represented in the World Championships this year with six members of the team suiting up for their respective countries. One of which is goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who had this collision on Sunday

Sweden is playing in the Carlson Hockey Games to get ready for the World Championships.

As a precaution, Markstrom was removed from the game after that collision but after speaking with team doctors, he isn’t expected to miss any games.

It’s really unfortunate that both goaltenders had these things happen to them over the last week but luckily it doesn’t appear either injury will have a lasting effect and both of them should be suiting up soon enough.

Until then, maybe the organization should put Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes in bubble wrap to make sure nothing bad happens to them either.
