During last night’s game between the Vancouver Canucks and Tampa Bay Lightning, Bolts colour commentator Bobby “The Chief” Taylor made a comment that quickly made the rounds on social media.
After a high-sticking call was assessed to Tampa defenceman Jan Rutta was reviewed and subsequently taken back by the officials, Bruce Boudreau asked for an explanation as to why the penalty was taken back.
This didn’t sit well with Taylor.
“No he doesn’t, you never ask a player or coach the rules, they don’t know ’em,” said Taylor in response to his broadcast partner saying “I don’t know why Bruce Boudreau is so perplexed, he knows the rules.”
“It’s a follow-through you moron, it’s been that way since 1940,” added Taylor.
For what it’s worth, Boudreau said post game that he was asking the officials if the player should be in control of their stick.
