Snap Shots: Kole Lind talks about the Comets’ hot start

On Wednesday afternoon I spoke with Kole Lind for about 20 minutes and we touched on many different subjects. Kole has been off to a hot start along with his Utica Comets team, and has already scored half as many points as he did all of last season and continues to be a key player in the Comets top six forward group.

I asked Lind if he could remember the last time he was on a hockey team that went a full month without losing a game.
Honestly the last time I probably had that was in my minor hockey days back in Shaunavon. We had some good team back in Atom but I have never really had anything like that in my hockey career.

After what was a down year last year for the Canucks AHL team it seems like there had been a lot more pep in Comets fans’ step as they building has been electric when the team needs a boost and I asked Lind what he thought about the change in the arena.
To have an atmosphere like this, obviously helps us with our winning mindset and we want to perform in front of them is a huge part of it and they keep us going. In those tight games is great to have them have our back.

I talked with Lind at training camp and wanted to continue the conversation because he mentioned that he wanted to come to training camp and make an impact then follow that up by putting up numbers.
Lots of offseason work, getting faster and stronger and being able to push back against these older guys. Fend off a couple more checks and be able to hang on to the puck a bit more. Having a great start with the team has hekped a lot, gained a lot of confidence. I take that extra second to make a play that I might not have last year when I didn’t have as much confidence and things weren’t really going my way.
Lind has been able to get involved in a lot more scoring plays so I asked if that was due to learning in his rookie season or if it was due to just being stronger.
I think its a bit of both, being stronger has helped me find ways to get open and knowing where to be from playing last year. Specially at the end of the year, I wanted to continue to grow the confidence that I had at the end of last year. I learned a lot last year and finding open areas is a big part of my game that I didn’t really have early on last year and I wanted to pick it up this year and having the puck more helps too.
We touched on silencing the critics and I asked Lind if it feels good to prove people wrong.
Oh ya, it feels awesome. I love doing it. It’s hard to stay away from all the social media and people trying to get after you I love when people say negative stuff about me, I just want to prove them wrong right away and shove it in their face.
