Vancouver Canucks prospect Linus Karlsson will represent his home country of Sweden at the 2022 IIHF World Championship, which begins on Friday, May 13th.

Karlsson, 22, put up 26 goals and 20 assists through 52 games in the SHL this season, and did all the right things to catch the attention of everyone in Vancouver.
This, of course, includes Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin.
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s great experience and good for him,&#8221; Allvin said at end-of-season media availability of the prospect of Karlsson making Sweden&#8217;s roster. &#8220;I think regarding the expectations [in Vancouver] I think it&#8217;s always a transition period for European players coming over to North America. Different lifestyle, different rink size. I think Linus is excited, and we&#8217;re excited to have him here. We&#8217;ll see where he is come training camp, but we&#8217;re excited to see him in July.&#8221;
In July, the Canucks will hold a development/prospects camp out at UBC Vancouver, and that will mark our first time to see Karlsson live and in-person since his highly-acclaimed rookie SHL season.
But before that, Karlsson will join Oliver Ekman-Larsson in Finland to try to bring home gold for Sweden. Sweden&#8217;s first game is on May 14th against Austria.

The top four teams from each group (A and B) will advance to the quarterfinals on May 26th, with the semifinals and final going down on May 28th and May 29th, respectively.
