It appears that the Canucks will be without Sam Gagner for the foreseeable future as he is heading back to Vancouver after suffering an ankle injury yesterday
Gagner later mentioned that it happened during a third-period powerplay where he was tangled up with a Panther. (not a real one)
Unfortunately, since there are regional blackouts that prevent me from being able to see the game within 48 hours, I am unable to provide a video of the play. But there was only one Florida penalty during the third period, which was Jonathan Huberdeau receiving a hooking penalty at 00:46 of the third, so it’s clear that occured during that infraction.
The Canucks centre did try to participate in the morning skate today, but had to leave and was visibly frustrated. Gagner had just returned to the lineup after suffering a concussion.
He has 7 goals and 15assists in 42 games in his first season with the Canucks.
It will be interesting to see how the Canucks handle the loss of Gagner. It almost certainly means that Nic Dowd will see regular time in the lineup.
