With Young Stars about to kick off tomorrow, the Canucks have reportedly signed veteran forward Scottie Upshall to a professional tryout.
Upshall just completed a one year contract with the St Louis Blues that paid him $900,000 where he scored 10 goals and 8 assists in 73 regular season games.

Given the Canucks having to split their pre-season roster due to their games in China, it makes sense that the organization has invited Ryan White and Upshall to training camp.
Upshall has been a reasonably productive bottom six forward for some time with above average shot suppression when comparing against players of a similar role. Given the current forward depth that the Canucks, it’s unlikely that they would be able to fit Upshall in.
With that being said, Upshall may have a versatile enough game to be noticeable for the Canucks in the pre-season.
