What To Watch For
> #19: Two seasons after #16 went up to the rafters, it’s that time again for Vancouver fans. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Naslund under our roof, much less with Ohlund in tow too. Say what you will about the decision to retire #19, but the fact is he’s one of the best to ever don the Orca and he helped steer this team from the Messier debacle through the WCE express years, the lockout and finally the dawn of the Luongo era. Congratulations Nazzy, thank you for everything.
> Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…: For the third straight game, Vancouver’s opponent is coming off a loss against an Alberta team and playing in Rogers the following night. The Blues outworked Vancouver and the Ducks – greatly aided by fantatic goaltending – played above the level too. Tampa’s big weakness is in net so perhaps the Canucks can ride the wave of emotion to pummeling Ellis early and often. It worked on Linden’s night!
> For the record: It’s worth pointing out that Vancouver has the best points percentage basis (.727) against Tampa in its history. Also of note is that it’s averaged exactly four goals a game against Tampa in 22 lifetime matches, second best in its history. All things considered, if the hockey gods can’t look favorable on tonight’s outcome, they never will
