The season will not end on Saturday afternoon for Canucks prospect Quinn Hughes as he will be heading to the World Championships
The event will run from May 10th until the 26th in Bratislava and Kosice, Slovakia.
Hughes represented the United States at last year’s event, appearing in ten games and registering two assists.
The United States hasn’t been shy about getting young players onto the roster for this event as it presents a fantastic opportunity for them to get a look at some of the younger stars and allows said players to gain some experience. Hughes had that experience last year and will look to build on that with a bigger role for the Americans. He has looked comfortable in his stint with the Canucks this season and should be noticeably more confident in Slovakia than last year.
It’s been an interesting (and long) season for the Canucks prospect that has seen him suit up all over the world. He represented USA at the WJHC Summer Showcase, then head to Michigan for what was his final NCAA season. He left for December, winning a silver medal with the USA at the World Juniors, before finally making his way to the NHL.
All of those experiences should pay dividends for Hughes as he looks to make an impact on the Canucks blueline next season.
The Canucks play their final regular season game on Saturday afternoon with a 1 pm PT contest against the St. Louis Blues.
