The Canucks have 3 straight losses – two of which came from the league’s worst team in the Arizona Coyotes. It wasn’t a good week, so who deserves to be No. 1?
1. Jacob Markstrom
Sunday night’s game was uneventful, but Markstrom was as good as he could’ve been. Plus, he’s sporting a brand new equipment setup that looks pretty sweet!
2. Brendan Leipsic
He has 6 points in 6 games since being traded to the Canucks. Fine by me! The speed and the energy he brings is noticeable and it appears Jim Benning made a good trade!
3. Erik Gudbranson
He made two really good plays in the same shift on Sunday to break up two separate Coyotes offensive rushes.
4. Nic Dowd
For staying positive!
That game day feeling! 👍😊
5. Jussi Jokinen
He scored in back-to-back games and nobody expected that.
You've got to be Jokinnen! Jussi Jokinnen scores to tie the game at 1 🚨
6. Henrik Sedin
Despite his stardom in Vancouver, he’s still a dad doing dad things.
Dads gonna dad! Henrik Sedin and his son, Harry, share a moment before joining the @Canucks on ice!
7. Daniel Sedin
For this crazy (although very Sedin) stat:
Did You Know? Daniel Sedin has scored more goals in the last 3 games (3) than Henrik Sedin has scored all season (2).
8. Derrick Pouliot
For being a regular person and chuckling during the Canadian national anthem in Arizona.
Derek Pouliot thinks the Canadian anthem is bumpin' 🇨🇦
9. Troy Stecher, Michael Del Zotto, Chris Tanev
For keeping the “friends before teammates” saying alive.
Stecher, Del Zotto and Tanev went to the hospital after game to be with Boeser, stayed with him til 2am and then took him home. #Teammates
Stecher also contacted Brock’s Mom to keep her informed of injury situation. Quality young guys on this team, lot of stuff u don’t see/hear
10. Alex Biega
For this weird but clever conspiracy:
Weird theory for which I have no real evidence: what if Alex Biega's two Red Bulls before a game habit is what makes him so effective after a long stint in the press box, but not effective long term? #Canucks
11. Jake Virtanen
For feeding off of Biega’s Red Bulls and putting up some solid games this week.
Jake Virtanen getting ready to fly on that Red Bull tonight
12. Darren Archibald
He scored a nice goal on a penalty shot.
Archie ties the game on a penalty shot!! 🚨🚨
13. Sam Gagner
He had 2 assists in 3 games.
14. Ben Hutton and Nikolay Goldobin
They were healthy scratch buddies this week.
Looks like Goldobin and Hutton are out tonight. Biega and Dowd in. Nilsson starts. #Canucks
15. Bo Horvat
He got hit in the head with a puck.
16. Anders Nilsson
He posted a 0.886 GAA on Friday vs. Minnesota.
17. Chris Tanev
He’s almost ready to return, but he’s technically still injured.
Tanev skating today in Arizona but hearing he could still be a week to 10 away from playing. #Canucks
18. Sven Baertschi, Loui Eriksson, Markus Granlund, and Brendan Gaunce
You know why.
