Mid-Day Head-shots is a CanucksArmy feature where we round up today’s freshest Canucks news including funny gifs, awesome videos, cool photos and interesting links. If you’ve written a Canucks blog-post and want it to be featured here, e-mail me at thom.drance@gmail.com.
Everyone and their second cousins milkman’s dog-walker has a take on the Byron Bitz signing – but you should read ours since we make fun of Dale Tallon, include Bitz’s work as a Vlogger and went to behindthenet to do some digging. Conclusion: Bitz is a large guy who is likely to be a run of the mill fourth-liner, but he’s pretty disciplined and has some potential upside.
CONSPIRACY MATERIAL: PHT’s James O’Brien has compiled some very interesting data about penalties called since the lockout. Guess who has had the third largest amount of penalties called against them? Yeah that’s right, it’s the Vancouver Canucks. I personally blame sleeper agent Mike Murphy, and I heartily suggest you do the same.
The Canucks for Kids Fund announced their grants for next year. Cam Davie wrote a must-read personal response here. The twenty six year old fund raised over four million dollars this year, bringing the cumulative total raised by the fund during its existence to well over thirty-five million. Vancouver hockey fans should be, and are, proud to root for a team that places as much importance on community improvement as the Canucks do.
Puck Daddy’s Sean Leahy profiles a common type of Canucks-specific jersey foul – the mashup Sedin twins jersey. I’ve seen way to many jerseys like this in my time (including ones where the number is displayed like: "22/33") and I definitely call this sweater a flagrant foul.
