Fears grow as COVID-19 variant expected for ailing Vancouver Canucks

Fear around the Vancouver Canucks organization is growing after more positive COVID-19 results were returned Friday night.
The news was reported by TSN’s Darren Dreger, who noted that “a variant has been identified in some of the cases.”
TSN’s Farhan Lalji reported that the Brazilian P.1 variant is “likely in play.” Lalji also reported that some of the players have become “very ill” and have been administered IV treatments.
As Dregs notes, some #Canucks players have become very ill. I’m also being told that in some cases team medical staff may have gone to the homes of players to administer IV treatments.
The Vancouver Canucks received more positive COVID-19 tests on Friday evening, adding to the already eight confirmed cases among their players. In addition to the new positive tests, a strain variant has been identified. More from @DarrenDreger: tsn.ca/video/~2171632
The news is without a doubt worst case scenario for the Vancouver Canucks. It kicked off early in the week with Adam Gaudette being removed from practice after a positive test, only to have Travis Hamonic and a member of the coaching staff to enter COVID-19 protocols.
And earlier today, Alex Edler, Quinn Hughes, Braden Holtby, Zack MacEwen, and Antoine Roussel were all added to the COVID protocol list.
