Fresh of a 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Halloween, some good news has come to the Canucks as Elias Pettersson has been named the NHL rookie of the month for October:
Despite missing six games due to a concussion, Pettersson is tied for the lead in goals (7) and assists (3).
His goals are even more impressive than the totals. All displaying different attributes about his game that make him such an exciting building block for the future. Watching Pettersson has become appointment viewing.
He leads all rookies in both of those categories, so it isn’t surprising to see Pettersson win the award for the month.
The excitement building around Pettersson has started to take notice around the league and it’s great to see that he was able to win the first rookie of the month for his first month in the NHL. Hopefully, it’s the first of many to come en route to a Calder Trophy win. We can only hope.
