Rögle BK, Nils Hoglander’s SHL team, is on an “involuntary break” due to an outbreak of COVID-19.

Since Monday, Rögle’s players and staff have been told to stay at home, and tonight’s game against Malmö along with Thursday evening’s match against Färjestad BK, have both been moved to a later date.

As reported first by CanucksArmy’s Chris Faber, Höglander is not one of the players who has tested positive for the virus:

The team doesn’t know when they will return to action, which makes Höglander’s situation even more interesting. His loan to the SHL doesn’t expire until December 12th. Upon arriving to Vancouver, he will have to quarantine for two weeks, which means he could miss a good chunk of training camp, should the NHL continue to strive for a January 1st start date to the season.

Depending on how the situation with Rögle progresses, it will be interesting to see if Höglander tries to come to North America sooner than when his loan is set to end. We’ve reached out to his camp but haven’t heard back regarding a potential plan to come to Vancouver earlier than mid-December.
