As rumors circle around the Vancouver Canucks and a potential search for a power forward in the trade market, could the team look to San Jose Sharks F Patrick Marleau?
The Athletic’s Kevin Kurz speculated that the Canucks are a team that might look at the vet.
Perhaps the Canucks aren’t viewed as a Stanley Cup contender just yet, but they’re still in first place in the Pacific Division as of Monday morning. The playoff format means that regardless of what happens in the Central Division, a Pacific Division team will likely be in the Western Conference final. Who’s to say it can’t be the Canucks, as long as goalie Jacob Markstrom remains hot? Marleau could easily slot in on the left side here, as Antoine Roussel and Tim Schaller are their third- and fourth-line left wings.
Age is apparently just all but a number for Marleau, who continues to produce in the NHL. In 51 games for the Sharks this season, he’s tallied 10 goals and another 10 assists.
What would you give up for Marleau?
