Welcome to the yearly wrap up of the top read articles over the last year!
A mere month before the NHL trade deadline, content sites like CanucksArmy (and pretty much every other hockey site out there), love to take a look potential trade partners.
The 25th most-read article on CanucksArmy, penned by Stephan Roget, was exactly one of those pieces.
Roget’s article aired on Jan. 29 and utilized a new app from our partners at PuckPedia.com — the myPuckPedia GM Mode.
Brandon Sutter was identified as a player Roget was looking to move, and found a potential trade partner in the New York Islanders. He drew up an initial deal that would’ve seen the Canucks trade Sutter, Troy Stecher and a third round pick in 2021 for Scott Mayfield and Matt Martin.
He tweaked it further by adding Nikolay Goldobin from the Canucks, and Josh Ho-Sang from the Islanders. In the end, in an informal poll Roget posted on Twitter, 42.6 percent of 477 voters felt the trade favoured the Islanders, while 36.1 percent saw it as fair and only 21.4 percent felt it favoured the Canucks.
