The Vancouver Canucks have made their first deal of trade deadline day.

The Canucks have sent forward Curtis Lazar to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, GM Patrik Allvin announced early Friday morning.

“We would like thank Curtis for his time in Vancouver,” said Allvin. “He brought a lot of great energy and a positive attitude to the rink every day. We wish him the best of luck in New Jersey.”

Lazar signed with his hometown team this past offseason, inking a three-year deal with an annual average value of $1 million. The Salmon Arm, BC native has tallied three goals and two assists through 45 games played with the Canucks this season.

Yesterday, the Canucks activated Lazar from injured reserve, as the 6-foot centre had been out with an injury sustained during the second period of the Canucks’ February 15th home matchup against the New York Rangers.

Lazar did not play in the Canucks’ game against the Minnesota Wild, a game the Canucks would go on to lose by a final score of 2-1.
