As was reported by Rick Dhaliwal yesterday, the Vancouver Canucks reached out to Thatcher Demko’s camp last week to talk about a contract extension.
Those talks clearly went well, as they’ve now reportedly agreed on a five-year extension to the tune of $25 million.
The deal will carry a $5 million cap hit, and Dhaliwal is reporting that the deal has no form of trade protection in any of the five years.
The deal was first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and TSN’s Frank Seravalli:
Demko has been playing excellent as of late, and the Canucks clearly wanted to get this piece of business out of the way before entering an offseason in which they will be tasked with getting both Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes signed.
