Canucks release 2026 prospects showcase roster

The first opportunity to catch some Vancouver Canucks action is coming up this weekend in Abbotsford. On Wednesday, the Canucks dropped their roster for their doubleheader matchup with the Seattle Kraken in this year’s prospects showcase. The roster includes 24 players: 14 forwards, seven defencemen, and three goaltenders.

The group representing the Canucks includes a mix of Canucks draft picks, Abbotsford Canucks players, and players the club invited to take part in the weekend matchups.

Four skaters from the Canucks’ most recent draft class will be in attendance at this year’s prospect showcase, including first-round pick Adam Novotný, 33rd overall pick Brooks Rogowski, as well as fourth and sixth-round picks Yaroslav Bryzgalov and Lucian Bernat.

Other 2026 draft picks, like Caleb Malhotra and Niklas Aaram-Olsen, will not be in attendance due to their NCAA responsibilities as we approach their seasons.

Braeden Cootes, Ty Mueller and Kirill Kudryavtsev will all take part in the showcase weekend, adding some NHL experience to the Canucks roster and getting their first opportunities to impress as they make a push to become NHL regulars this season.

It will also be a first look this year for Canucks fans to see Ilya Safonov in game action after the club agreed to terms with him on a one-year contract back in June earlier this year.

Between the pipes, the Canucks will split time between 2025 second-round pick Aleksei Medvedev, Aku Koskenvuo and Ty Young.

Tomorrow, Friday, September 11, the group will take the ice for practice in Abbotsford before playing games on both Saturday, September 12, at 4:00 pm and Sunday, September 13, at 1:00 pm at the Rogers Forum.

This will mark the second year of the Canucks and Kraken prospect showcase, which replaced the Rising Stars showcase in Penticton, B.C., in previous years.
