Just two days after the Canucks recalled goaltender Thatcher Demko from the Utica Comets, they’ve sent the future of their crease back to the farm. Barring an injury to either of the Canucks netminders, that’s likely where he’ll stay to finish the season.
In four appearances with the Comets, Demko’s posted a 3-1 record to go along with an obscene .960 save percentage on the season. Both marks are second in the AHL among goalies with three or more starts.
For those curious about the Demko recall, all I can say is, well, welcome to the club. I can say with a certain amount of confidence that the move was motivated by the salary cap. Ryan Biech did an excellent job of outlining for The Athletic Vancouver, though, so if you want to get into the nitty-gritty of the move, he’s your guy.
