Canucks Player Power Rankings – March 3rd, 2015

Mar 3, 2015, 11:00 ESTUpdated:

As inconsistent as that white-and-gold and blue-and-black dress, the Canucks beat the Islanders, the Bruins, and the Blues in the same week that they lost to the Buffalo Sabres. For all of their faults, though, the wildness of the team is kind of fun this season. Here are my rankings of the good, the bad, and the injured:
1. Henrik Sedin:
Henrik Sedin holds on to top spot by being a good hockey player ad by being a good teammate, warning a blissfully unaware Eddie Lack of some oncoming danger here:

2. Zack Kassian:
Zack Kassian is probably some guy that the Canucks picked up by the pigeons that hang out at Georgia and Granville and it’s totally working.
3. Daniel Sedin:
As the subject of King of the Rink this week, Daniel Sedin has been revealed as a Jeopardy master and a lover of foods in tubes.
4. Dan Hamhuis:
Dan Hamhuis is too nice to say it, so we can… how the hell did this happen?
5. Eddie Lack:
Eddie Lack (pictured below) seems too optimistic and peppy to deserve the scrutiny that comes with being Vancouver’s starting goaltender. Hopefully the current roller coaster will level out when Tanev and/or Edler return to help out.

6. Shawn Matthias:
Should he be traded by the time these power ranking have been posted, let it be known that Shawn Matthias had one of the best and most accurate nicknames in Canucks history.
7. Nick Bonino:
Nick Bonino scored a cool goal against the Blues, a good sign as earlier this week his attempt at this agility ladder thing was concerning and hilarious:

8. Radim Vrbata:
Remember cool shootout goals like these before the Radim Vrbata era? Me neither.

9. Bo Horvat:
This Bo Horvat vs. Val Nichushkin debate has been brought to you by
10. Jannik Hansen:
Jannik Hansen’s legitimate reaction to Pastrnak’s high stick led to Milan Lucic going to the box and getting very upset. Jannik knows how to remain close to the hearts of Canuck fans.
11. Chris Higgins:
Chris Higgins and Shawn Matthias combined for the potential farewell goal. Who knows where they’ll be after the trade deadline? (Probably here in Vancouver) (EDIT: called it).
12. Yannick Weber:
Yannick Weber has stepped up nicely amidst the injuries. Aside from a few issues, his play has definitely been worthy of post-game Burrows hugs.

13. Ronalds Kenins:
In Derek Jory’s Fort Nucks, Bo Horvat reveals that Kenins adds a “The” before each of his teammates names. The Horvat also noticed The Kenins barking on the bench. Ronalds truly is the gift that keeps on giving in the most unexpected ways.
14. Jacob Markstrom:
Markstrom’s NHL season debut is imminent and if things go well, maybe we can expect a repeat of this on-ice fiesta.
15. Alex Edler and Chris Tanev:
In the eloquent words of Hozier: Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
16. Derek Dorsett:
17. Alex Biega:
Check out this shot of Alex Biega’s man shooting a puck past Eddie Lack. Not pictured: Alex Biega.

18. Ryan Stanton:
Even with the depleted blue line, Ryan Stanton manages to be scratched
19. Adam Clendening:
Clendening-Sbisa is the new Stanton-Sbisa is the new Bieksa-Sbisa.
20. Ryan Miller:
Ryan Miller missed out on his return to Buffalo and to honour his misfortune, the rest of the Canucks decided to skip the game as well.
21. Linden Vey:
Poor Linden Vey. Poor tiny, ineffective Linden Vey.
22. Luca Sbisa:
Sometimes you watch Luca Sbisa and you think, “Hey, Sbisa’s been fine so far tonight!” but then everything goes downhill. Luca Sbisa is the personification of this grilled cheese tragedy.

23. Brad Richardson:
Brad Richardson is still missing but some nice news is that he’s going to be a dad! Cute!

24. Alexandre Burrows
Alex Burrows does L’Oréal commercials and hopefully Kevin Bieksa has seen it and will respond.
25. Frank Corrado:
He is technically currently a member of the Utica Comets, but hopefully he will return to the Canucks as soon as possible. Lord knows he would help.
26. Kevin Bieksa:
A cast-free Kevin Bieksa posed for some pucks this week!
27. Brandon McMillan:
I like to think that Shawn Matthias doesn’t know who Brandon McMIllan is and it trying to figure out how a common commuter made his way onto the Canucks’ charter.
