The Vancouver Canucks were hit with more unfortunate injury news this morning, as general manager Patrik Allvin announced that forwards Curtis Lazar and Brock Boeser have officially been placed on injured reserve.
Boeser missed Monday night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes after taking a maintenance day over the weekend before head coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters that Boeser was considered day-to-day.
It’s unclear at this time whether or not Boeser’s new IR stint is related to the hand surgery he underwent after injuring himself on the third and final day of training camp in Whistler last month.
The big blow is Curtis Lazar, who has been one of the Canucks’ more trusted forwards in the defensive zone so far this season.
We’ll have a further update from Boudreau following the Canucks’ practice this morning and will look to get a timeline on both players, so stay tuned for that.
The Canucks have called up Sheldon Dries and Will Lockwood from the Abbotsford Canucks as a result of Boeser and Lazar going to IR.
The Canucks’ injured reserve currently consists of:
- Brock Boeser
- Curtis Lazar
- Travis Dermott
- Quinn Hughes
- Tucker Poolman (long-term injured reserve)
- Riley Stillman (not on IR, still considered day-to-day)
