General Manager Patrik Allvin spoke to the media on Wednesday morning and gave an update on some of the Vancouver Canucks’ injured players.

Early Wednesday morning, the Canucks placed Brock Boeser and Curtis Lazar on injury reserve.

Allvin confirmed that Boeser is going to be day-to-day and expects to see him back on the ice sooner rather than later. The same can be said about Quinn Hughes, who missed the last two games with a lower-body injury.

“My understanding through the doctor’s reports are that both [Hughes and Boeser] are day-to-day and expect to be back here,” said Allvin. “I don’t believe they are back tomorrow but anytime soon. They shouldn’t be out that long.”

There news wasn’t as good when it came to Lazar.

“I believe he is more three to four weeks,” said Allvin. “He got injured in one of the earlier games but was playing through it. And at this point, the doctor’s advice was to have him sit out, unfortunately.”

“I never anticipated that,” said Allvin when asked about his reaction to the start of the season. “I think this is a challenge for us, obviously facing adversity here right away. I know the coaches and the players are working hard to find a way to get out of there.”

With the injuries, the Canucks recalled Will Lockwood and Sheldon Dries from the AHL. Dries skated on a fourth line with Tanner Pearson and Nils Höglander at Wednesday’s practice. Lockwood was used as an extra forward and rotated in with the trio of Vasily Podkolzin, Nils Aman, and Dakota Joshua.
