Canucks Cut Ten More Players In Anticpation of Utica Camp

Sep 22, 2015, 19:44 EDTUpdated:
The Vancouver Canucks started off the day by sending two of their QMJHL prospects back to the east coast. However, that appears to be just the tip of the iceberg, as six prospects and four tryouts have been passed along to the Utica Comets in anticipation of the AHL affiliate’s own training camp.
As far as signed players go, the group heading to the Comets includes Anton Cederholm, Dane Fox, Evan McEneny, Ashton Sautner, Mackenze Stewart, and Jordan Subban. Interestingly enough, none of the players in this group got to play in last night’s game against the Sharks in North Saanich, though they all represented the team in the Penticton Young Stars tournament.
Travis Ehrhardt, John Kurtz, Clay Witt, and Mike Zalewski are also headed to the Comets. They’ve been released by the Canucks, but will attend camp in an effort to gain an AHL contract (EDIT: as mentioned below, Witt and Zalewski already have AHL deals).
The Utica Comets look to build upon a run to the 2015 Calder Cup Finals, which saw a team largely built upon Canucks prospects win three playoff rounds before losing to the Manchester Monarchs in five games.
