No, you’re not reading that wrong, it’s really me, David Quadrelli, writing a game preview. Always90Four’s replacement, my podcast partner Chris Faber, needed a replacement of his own. Who better to deliver you the important notes you need to know ahead of tonight’s tilt with the San Jose Sharks than me?

The Canucks are on a three-game winning streak, and have won seven of their last ten. Coming fresh off the heels of a thrilling home victory on Monday night against the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver will look to gain ground in the Pacific Division with a win over the Sharks.

Thatcher Demko was rock solid in Monday night’s win, and was especially good when the Blues turned on the pressure late in the third.

With Jacob Markstrom returning from the All-Star Game and playing a ton before that, giving Demko the start made sense — especially before a long road trip. Expect for Markstrom to get the start tonight, but don’t be shocked if head coach Travis Green elects to go with his backup once again and try to keep Markstrom fresh for the rest of the road trip.

At the other end of the ice, North Vancouver native Martin Jones will start in goal for San Jose. Jones has had a rocky season up to this point and has seen Aaron Dell take his starting job. Jones is 13-16-2 on the season.

The Canucks appear as though they won’t change anything from their last three wins, and why would they?

San Jose will presumably line up like this tomorrow:

-Jake Virtanen has looked right at home playing alongside Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, and the so-called MVP Line will look to continue their recent success together while Brock Boeser remains on the outside looking in.

-Quinn Hughes didn’t play badly per se, but Monday night’s victory was certainly one of the weaker performances we’ve seen from the rookie blueliner. Look for him to bounce back in a big way tonight.
