Canucks Army Roundtable: Fandom for Sale!

The Vancouver Canucks may be out of the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean the fine folks at Canucks Army are enjoying them any less. Speaking personally, it’s been quite the opposite.
We’re all adopting different teams, for different reasons and enjoying the playoffs with almost no strings attached. It’s great. Sure, if my surrogate team goes on to win the cup – all the better!
I know where my allegiances lie, but I figured I would put the rest of the Canucks Army staff to the test. So, let’s see who they’re pulling for now, why don’t we?

Despite picking against them in my playoff bracket and hockey pool, I’m starting to root for the sharks this year. It’s not that I ever disliked them, but I couldn’t see them beating LA. Now they’re up 3-1 and have looked to my eyes the convincingly better while doing so, I have no qualms hopping on this bandwagon and rooting for the great cast of likeable characters on the team.

I happen to be a big Tampa Bay fan alongside the Canucks, so obviously that’s where my rooting interest lies. In the West, it’s hard not to cheer for the underdog Sharks as they have fallen short so many times. Thornton is putting up a great playoffs so far, and they are exciting to watch.
Ryan Biech
I’ve jumped on the Florida bandwagon – cheering for the Panthers and Lightning.
Also want to see San Jose and St Louis beat their demons and advance.
It’s unfortunate that the TV ratings are way down, as the playoffs, aside for the Shaw penalty box incident, have been a real treat

Florida would be the easy answer with the goalie there, he’s good I hear. I’d like to see Chicago do it again for the dynasty angle or even Ovechkin winning it all. He’s a special player and it looks like the Caps are trying to embarrass their opponents, gotta like that. To be perfectly honest, my Kelowna Rockets have garnered my full attention this spring and if you have seen the hilites, they deserve it.
I would like to see Luongo win the Cup. He’s our hero and it’s a shame he didn’t have goal support when it mattered the most or we’d be talking about the Canucks as the team we’re watching

Have I ever mentioned that I lived in California for three years as a young child? True story. I lived in a suburb of San Francisco, called Concord. My old man had a friend who worked at Fox Sports and we got tickets to Sharks games all the time. My family and I were pied on the jumbotron. That was neat.
Anyways, I guess I’m pulling for the Sharks. If not for the memories, it’s for Joe Thornton. What a special and awesome player. Seriously, if I had a ballot, he would make his way into my Hart and Selke votes. I’m not sure where, but somewhere in the top five.
