What a season it has been! When it all began, most of us thought the Canucks would be finding themselves or working their way back to credibility by the end of the season; boy were we way off! There still is one more key game left though, the Edmonton Spoilers are in town tonight. Spoilers…get it? they beat the Kings? Okay, you got it.
Edmonton will probably look to lose this game to try and lock in as good a chance as they can get to snag McDavid or Eichel. That’s fine with the Canucks. Vancity could use the win to solidify home ice to start the playoffs against the Flames, but with Calgary absolutely tanking against the Jets today, thats already been decided. Not a ton of storylines in this one….OH YA, RYAN MILLER STARTS!!!!
The tingly feeling of the playoffs is among us, let’s just keep this one professional today. Canucks go for the season sweep of the Oilers. Not surprising, but still important. #moralvictory

LINEUPS

First and foremost, it’s Miller time! Ryan Miller is back between the pipes for the first time since February 22nd, and aside from the Oilers putting on a fire drill, it will likely be his last start for awhile. Ronalds Kenins and Sven Baertschi will most likely both slot in again.
Honestly, it really doesn’t matter who the Oilers start in this game, this isn’t exactly one they circled on their calendars. Edmonton may try and pull a Fasth one and start recently activated Victor Fasth who was on the IR. With all those first rounders in the lineup, it makes you wonder how they are really this bad.

HEAD TO HEAD

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME

  • Ryan Miller is starting. Getting in his reps is important against any team good or bad, and the Canucks will need to know if they have two goalies at the top of their game. Welcome back Miller!
  • Henrik and Daniel go all in against the Oilers and this one will be no different. Sedinery will be at its finest again, so expect to see something on the season ending highlight reel. Well, unless Henrik plays one shift then leaves again. They mean business.
  • With Yannick Weber’s two PPG last game, he’s playing for $bisa money now. Weber has been such a pickup and he has a TON of Salo-like potential, minus the snake bites, cold sores, broken nuts, broken everything elses and own-goals off the top of his head (other Salo, but look at the Edmonton connection). Heading into the playoffs, Weber will be relied on to keep teams honest before taking penalties; that rocket is lethal.
  • Daniel Sedin has 74 points and is 9th in league scoring; expect at least 3 points out of him this evening and his move to 6th place. Henrik probably will get 3 too! Both of them will be in the top 10 by nights end. BANK IT! But they’re washed up so that doesn’t mean much……
  • Not that you will see it on TV, but it’s Fan Appreciation night. The great Gino Odjick will be honoured and rightfully so, he’s a legend. He’s best buds with Pavel Bure (whom I hope shows up) and his contribution both on and off the ice to the city of Vancouver has been cherished. GINO, GINO, GINO, GINO!

    WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

    MY TAKE

The Oilers do stink and thankfully this is the last time anyone sees them until next year, aside from their new star or whomever they get. The Canucks love destroying this sad sack on skates and saying the ‘Nucks will win is a given. I’m calling 6-1 after Miller lets in a floater early. Playoffs are next and that’s all any of us really care about now. Thanks for getting us this far Canucks, the real thing starts later this week!
