CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 80 – CANUCKS @ OILERS (AMBS)

It’s the final game at Rexall Arena tonight. I personally don’t care. It’s a horribly set up arena, the benches are on the wrong side and the lighting is awful. Thankfully, the Sedins feast at the pharmacy (Rexall) and probably will put some kind of Sedinery together. This is one of the final games of the AMBS or Auston Matthews Bowl Series as you may know it better.
The Canucks are also riding a season high three game win streak and look to make it four, yes that’s correct, four. Maybe finishing above last place still can get AM, it is possible, we have the technology.

LINE COMBOS
Derek Dorsett had a kid, but he should be ready to play this evening and obviously we can’t control our excitements. Jannik Hansen continues on the Sedin line and another goal might be in the cards after hitting 21. We may hear Sven Baertschi, Chris Higgins or Linden Vey get activated as all are day to day. After 3 in a row though, they got dis!
Jacob Markstrom would be the obvious play after Ryan Miller got his start.

Connor McDavid leads the Oilers into their last battle at Rexall before this dumpster fire burns to the ground. For a team that is also playing in the AMBS, losing is a real possibility but with the fans of Edmonton wanting a farewell win, look for Jordan Eberle to have one of those games, you know the one.
Nail Yakupov may be auditioning for a new team so any final games are important for him too, as I guess most of the team may be too!?
Cam Talbot should get the final start at home. Bet he wishes he was backing up in NY still.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS LAST GAME AT REXALL
  • The Canucks do ok in Edmonton and if it was possible to play run time so they could get out of that giant pothole they would. The pre-game will probably carry into dinner time so if you happen to get home like the rest of us at a normal time, you may not miss much. That being said, it could start on time-ish. Wayne Gretzky’s gonna be there, Grant Fuhr’s gonna be there and Mark Messier will be too! So exciting.
  • Did you know, are you aware, have you checked out….Jannik Hansen and his little streak as of late? 2 goals and 3 helpers in his last 5, that’s good. He managed a PPG last game which is impressive as it was his first of the year! Hansen has been a surprise even by Hansen standards. How great would it be if he scored on a breakaway tonight? Pretty great I think, pretty great.
  • This goal was pretty nice. Did Quick bite a bit early? Yes he did. Was it still a great goal for a guy that is now on the wing? Absolutely. Even if McCann should have been sent down, when you score goals like that on goalies like him, you belong.
  • Marky got the start back on Boxing Day against the Oilers and his boys won it for him in OT. Regulation would be a better way to do it and a shutout would be a nice way to show up those young punks, well that and it would be the Swede’s first gooser of the year.
  • Like the new Drake tune feat. Kanye and Jay Z, Rexall owes us at least a bit more. Give us a Connor McDavid top 10 goal of the year, give us a Nikita Tryamkin rocket from the blue line, give us a Jake Virtanen “McMurder” pt 2. Anything along those lines.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
A good effort? Its the last game in your arena. Put in a great effort, like seriously, put in a great effort. The Canucks need those odds.
MY TAKE
Spoil their parade. Screw em! The Oilers? What do they deserve? nothing. Go and beat these pukes. Make it 10-1, make it embarrassing, make it memorable and make it unbearable. Canucks for the win.
WHAT’D I MISS?
The Oilers have managed to piss away another season and it seems their fans are following suit WARNING: NSFW, well really anyone.
