CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 76 – CANUCKS VS SHARKS

It’s the Canucks and the Sharks at the Rog. Two teams enter, one team leaves… actually, they both leave, Vancouver goes to San Jose on Thursday. The Canucks haven’t benefited at all from an opponent playing two games in two nights this season so don’t expect a tired Sharks team to fall down to the struggling Canucks. Seven games left to go and the nightmare will be over, but they must play the games.
We must watch them, for the Matthews….for the Matthews.

Jannik Hansen is back with the Twins, so right there, things are better. Markus Granlund gets the Baertschi/Virtanen treatment and Bo slums it with Higgins and Etem. Brendan Gaunce, Alex Burrows and the “McKid” Jared McCann round out the end. On the backend, Tryamkin and Hutton buddy up, while Dan “just call me Bill” Hamhuis struggles with Weber. We all miss Tanev, please come back Tanev.
Jacob Markstrom would be the next one to get riddled with pucks. He should start.

The Sharks blasted the Kings last night and punched their ticket to the playoffs. Congrats division foe, we hate you, though. That top line of big and little Joe as well as the Hertl, they be stealthy good. I went up and down the lineup and there isn’t a Kelowna Rocket I can predict to score so I’ll settle for Donskoi because #allnameteam
Martin Jones did his goalie-ing last night so Optimus James Reimer should start.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
  • First and foremost, the Canucks are tied for third last place; can you believe they’ve sunk THAT low? There has to be an award for team that fell off the face of the earth while their GM insisted a week ago that the playoffs was the goal still. They probably would have to pay a ton for that nameplate though. Yeesh!
  • I dislike the Sharks abundantly and anything resembling a #moralvictory of Nikita Tryamkin or Jake Virtanen unleashing a wait for for it #murder would be sufficient in my books. There’s only so much to look forward to and with fights going the way of the dodo bird, we need something. The scary thing is, those might be the only two players brave enough to hit someone right now.
  • Over at Mcubed.net, they have fun stats like lifetime series stats between two teams. Since the beginning of the 2013 season, the Canucks are 5-14 vs. the Sharks. Vancouver has scored 26 times while the Sharks have lit the lamp on 37 occurances. An 11 goal night for the Canucks would even things up; I suppose that would be a reason to tune in for anyone really.
  • This really shouldn’t be a hilite but Sven Baertschi has a goal and an assist in his last 5 games; this is borderline MVP-like for this team. When it’s all said and done, there have been some bright spots this year and Bae is definitely one. If he has anything to give to this team still, the big opponents are his spotlight.
  • Not exactly a reason to watch but more a reason to be scared. The men with the keys to the doors have all the power. I think that was in a movie one time.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
This could be us, but you’re the rest of the good NHL teams and we’re the worst.
MY TAKE
The Sharks will probably win because honestly nothing resembling a believable win has graced the Canucks side in weeks. It might be fun but in the end its a Joe Thornton kinda night, maybe we’ll see 4 goals…..you know.
WHAT’D I MISS?
Just gonna leave this herrrrrrre……
