CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 72 – CANUCKS @ JETS

Here’s the thing – the Canucks aren’t very good. They haven’t been good for awhile and I hate to say it but the Jets probably know this too. Thankfully, they still play the games and what a game it will be! Alex Burrows is reunited and it feels so good, with the Sedins. This may be grasping at straws but do you really care? What if they tear it up for the last 11 games? We’d all feel pretty dumb and that’s saying something. Both of these teams are in the Matthews Bowl Semi’s so someone needs to lose.

As stated above, Alex Burrows is back with Henrik and Daniel Sedin. They will make the playoffs solely on this move alone, BANK IT! Alex Edler, Radim Vrbata and Brandon Sutter are done for the year and really, we’re only sad about one one of those guys. Jannik Hansen may play on this roady but unlikely this evening.
Ryan Miller should start and I am super confident about this.

Dustin Byfuglien will have his hands full with Dimitri Nikita Tryamkin and this is the matchup of the evening. Mark Schiefele had a game against the Canucks last time and if I had to peg someone to score a guaranteed goal, it’s him. I’m also predicting Paul Postma to score because I don’t think he get’s enough love in Vancouver…or Winnipeg.
Michael Hutchinson is my pick to start. He’s 1-2-0-1 in his last 5 games, and with no goal support, his efforts have been “elegantly wasted

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
  • So apparently the Canucks haven’t scored in awhile? That’s about to change tonight. Alex Burrows got the golden ticket and will show the pups how it’s done. 2011 all over again? YA DAM SKIPPY! Losing only happens when you don’t score more goals than the other team after 60 minutes, but do you lose in life when you try your hardest? #thinkaboutit #lifelessons
  • Sven Baertschi has been a breath of fresh air this season, well parts of it anyways and he gave us glimpses of what he and Bo Horvat can do. It will take time for this bromance to really cement itself but there is something happening with these two and its good to see. I’m less sad because of it.
  • You could just wait for the hilites or the ticker at the bottom of the screen but the loser of this game is a lot closer to the Leafs and that last overall rank. Someone gets to draft Auston Matthews and it just might be one of these two teams. Vancouver fans hope the Canucks suck JUUUUUST enough for it to be them.
  • Nikita Tryamkin will get his first taste of the ‘Peg. It’s cold like Russia and that’s where he made a name for himself. Fans will no doubt mistake him for Tyler Myers because they aren’t as educated about all things as the rest of the country. Just because he’s tall doesn’t mean it’s the same guy. The Jets fans are just happy they have a team, so I guess we should give them a break.
  • Despite a lower CF%, Big Russ (Tryamkin’s new nickname) is slaying the PDO in his 3 games at 101.2 and his P/60 is 1.4. This guy is a HoFer. *drops mic*  – side note, this is a terribly small sample size and yes I am totally aware.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
How great are the Rockets? Beating teams 10-1 and the like. Watch out!
MY TAKE
Many of us want the Canucks to continue to drop games and get that % up to win the Matthews Bowl. The Canucks are going to spite their own fans and win this one. Oddly enough, it’s going to be one of those games where no one saw it coming and they win by a few. Ya, I’m going out on a limb here.
WHAT’D I MISS?
Just in time for play… whatever, if he’s good now I’m excited.
