Bruce Boudreau is no stranger to having fun.
And following his drawn-out public departure from the Vancouver Canucks, Boudreau is staying true to that.
Boudreau has been doing work as an analyst with the NHL Network over the past month, and today, he’ll be on TSN’s TradeCentre broadcast. But clearly, the broadcast crew up north wasn’t up to par with what Boudreau demands of his coworkers, as the former Canucks bench boss laid into his fellow panellists the best way he knows how: with a motivational speech littered with F-bombs.
In the clip, Boudreau rips into nearly everyone by name, with an especially hilarious focus on beloved host James Duthie. The clip is an homage to the viral scene from HBO 24/7: Road to the NHL Winter Classic, the all-access documentary series that followed the Penguins and Capitals in the lead-up to the Winter Classic in 2011. Boudreau’s Capitals were in the midst of an eight-game losing streak when Boudreau laid into them during an intermission, creating one of the best behind-the-scenes clips the NHL has ever produced.
The video features 15 F-bombs in one minute.
“It was a passionate speech. It wasn’t anything that I’m sitting there and manufacturing up the word, just to say the word,” Boudreau said of the speech. “When you’re talking with passion, sometimes I don’t know what’s coming out of my mouth, quite frankly.”
The fact that Boudreau quite clearly did “sit there and manufacture up” his scenes for the TSN clip makes it even more impressive.
Could Boudreau one day have a future in acting?
