Apparently, former Ottawa Senator and now Florida Panthers forward Brady Tkachuk thinks Seattle is a Canadian city.

On the Wingmen podcast with Matthew and Brady Tkachuk, the brothers began discussing a game in which Brady was booed in Calgary. He sounded surprised by the fact that they would boo him, considering he cheered for his brother Matthew when he played there, claiming that he was part of the “C of Red”, Calgary’s nickname for its passionate fanbase, for a couple of years.

Matthew then followed up by asking Brady if he got booed in every Canadian city he played in following Team USA’s Gold Medal, to which Brady responded:

“Not in Vancouver. But I was booed pretty good in Edmonton, and I was booed in Calgary. Seattle, nothing. Toronto, I got booed.”

Later in the podcast, Brady went on to list Toronto as the Canadian city where he was booed the loudest, followed by Edmonton, and lastly Calgary.

One would hope that Brady would know Seattle is not in Canada after playing in Canada for eight seasons and serving as the Captain of the Nation’s Capital for five of those years. Now, to be fair to Brady, he listed Seattle along with Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver, which was a road trip he and the Senators had in early March, shortly after the Americans defeated the Canadians in the Gold Medal game. Maybe that was it? But it’s funnier to believe he didn’t mispeak. So we’ll go with that.

With two years remaining on the seven-year contract he signed in Ottawa, the writing was on the wall that the Senators Captain was likely wanting out. After the Senators were swept in the first round by the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes, reports came out that Tkachuk had given the Senators a list of four teams. On June 21, Brady got his wish, reuniting with his brother as a member of the Panthers after a trade saw the Senators return the ninth and 25th overall picks in the 2026 NHL Draft, a first-round pick in 2029, and a second-round pick in 2027.
