Blackfish: CanucksArmy Prospect Report – December 8, 2019

Finally, some good news on the Olli Juolevi front in this week’s edition of Blackfish. We’re also talking World Junior selection camp and a couple of Swedish prospects continue their hot streaks.
CHL

- Carson Focht was held pointless this week. Focht has cooled off after his strong start to the season. He is now 5th on the Hitmen in points and 3 goals behind Mark Kastelic for the team lead. In his last 10 games he has 5 goals and 3 assists.
- After a strong draft +1 season, Jett Woo was expected to push for a spot on Team Canada’s blueline for the World Juniors. Unfortunately, he hasn’t done enough so this season and was left off of the selection camp roster.
- Ethan Keppen was scoreless in one game this week. His 0.33 goals-per-game is a hard decline from the 0.44 he had in his draft year.
- Arturs Silovs was pulled on December 5th after allowing 3 goals on 16 shots in the 1st period. This was the first time this season he has been relieved.
NCAA

- Tyler Madden was unable to find the scoresheet in a 6-3 defeat to Boston University.
- Aidan McDonough scored on the power-play. He has now scored 8 of his 11 points on the power-play.
- Will Lockwood had a secondary assist this week as Michigan went 1 and 1.
- Jack Rathbone had 2 primary assists on the power-play this week.
- Jack Malone had 2 primary assists against Rathbone and Harvard on Friday.

- The Canucks will not have a representative on Team USA for the World Juniors this year as the top Americans are no longer of age.
Russia

- Vasili Podkolzin will suit up today for SKA-Neva of the VHL. He was named to Russia’s World Junior selection camp. This would be his second time representing Russia at the U20 level and one would think he is a candidate to wear a letter on his jersey. He captained the under-18’s last season and wore an “A” when he played U17.
Sweden

- Nils Hoglander had a primary assist this week in Rogle’s lone game. Hoglander will be at Sweden’s selection camp and will be one of their main weapons at the World Juniors. He turns 19 on December 18.
- Arvid Costmar had 7 points in 3 games this week for Linkoping’s J20 squad. I’m surprised he wasn’t selected for Sweden’s camp.

- Linus Karlsson had 4 points in 3 games this week in the Allsvenskan.
Czech

- Karel Plasek had an uneventful week in the Czech 2 league.
Finland

- Petrus Palmu had a primary and a secondary assist in 3 games this week. His primary assist was a nice cross-ice feed on the rush to the Liiga’s leading scorer, Julius Nattinen. Palmu is now 5th in the Liiga in points-per-game.
- Toni Utunen picked up a secondary assist. He will represent Finland at the World Juniors once again.
AHL

- Great news for Olli Juolevi as he returned to game action this week.
Good news about Olli Juolevi, who will be returning to the ice.
- In his first game back he registered a primary assist on the power-play. The next night he added 2 more assists. A secondary on the power-play and a primary at even strength.
Olli Juolevi is back and dishing apples on the PP. Jonah Gadjovich with the hammer. #Canucks
- Guillaume Brisebois scored this week to give him 9 points on the season.
- Michael DiPietro did not play this week as he was called up to Vancouver in Markstrom’s leave of absence.
