Oct 12, 2017, 16:00 EDTUpdated: Oct 12, 2017, 14:13 EDT
We are back on our regularly scheduled day for the much-loved Blackfish: Canucks Army Prospect Report.
Canucks prospects continue to make a name for themselves despite some slowdowns. The Utica Comets kicked off their 2017-18 season with a pair of losses to the Toronto Marlies.
In Europe, the Champions Hockey League group stage is over with a few Canucks prospects moving onto the next round. (I will do a more in-depth look at their play in the CHL in the coming days)
Let’s dive in and take a look at the Canucks prospects making waves around the world.
Just a note – xNHL has been added to the charts below to show what their production would look like at the NHL level.

  • Kole Lind continues to put up points with three goals and one assist in two games this past week. He has points in every single game this year for Kelowna. His 35.0% shooting percentage is not sustainable, but the 3.33 shots per game is encouraging. His three goals can be found in the twitter thread below:
  • Despite the slow start, Jakub Stukel had himself a decent week with two goals and two assists since our last update on Friday. Like Lind, his shooting percentage is a little lofty.

  • Jonah Gadjovich had his point streak snapped – as he was unable to pick up a point in Monday’s game. With that being said, he still ends the week with two goals and two assists in the three games this past week. He’s down to only 3.43 SOG/PG! (that’s still good). His goal from the 7th can be found here:
  • I made a passing comment last week, saying that Cole Candella has been doing the right things and the points will come. Luckily for me, Candella had himself a good game this week with 1G and 1A in Sudbury’s only contest. It’s nice when these things work out.
  • Two games and zero points for Matt Brassard.
  • Brett McKenzie picked up his first point of the season with one assist in one game for North Bay.
  • Michael DiPietro stopped 88 of the 93 shots he faced this week – that bumps his GAA to <2.00 for the year. The Windsor Spitfires will raise their Memorial Cup Championship Banner tonight.

  • Another game for Abols, and zero points. From what I can find, he wasn’t in the lineup for their last game.
  • Kristoffer Gunnarsson did not have any points for Frolunda in their SHL game or CHL game.
  • Jonathan Dahlen has signed with Timra in the Allsvenskan – their next game is tomorrow but there is no word at this moment if Dahlen will play.

Finland

  • Petrus Palmu appeared in both CHL games for TPS this past week, he scored two goals in the second contest.
  • Olli Juolevi has yet to dress for TPS. They do play tomorrow and on Saturday, so he may have his debut soon enough.
