Gino Odjick’s bid for the Vancouver Canucks Ring of Honour got a big boost Sunday when BC Premier John Horgan endorsed the bruiser.
In a tweet, Horgan said: “Bure’s retired jersey will be safe with Gino on his wing in the Ring of Honour.”
The tweet linked to a Global news article noting a BC woman named Marcia McNaughton who has started a campaign to get Odjick’s name added to the Ring.
“It’s no news to everybody he’s sick again,” McNaughton, who knows Odjick personally told Global. “So I just kind of thought it was a good time to push to try to get him up there. He belongs there.”
Just last month, Odjick said he was once again battle AL amyloidosis.
McNaughton has also launched a Twitter account in favour of the campaign.
