Banged Up Comets Add Defenseman Joe Faust on a PTO.

With Evan McEneny and Ashton Sautner both out with injuries, and now Jaime Sifers being seen with his hand/wrist in a cast, the Utica Comets announced today that they have signed Joe Faust to a PTO. The Comets have called him “John” in their tweet. However, he seems to go by “Joe” from everything that I have found on him.
Faust is a former fourth-round pick of the New Jersey Devils from 2010. He is also a former teammate of current Comets forwards Brendan Woods and Joe LaBate with the University of Wisconsin as well as Reid Boucher in Albany while both were in the Devils system.
Faust is listed as a 6’0″, 209lbs, right shot defenseman. He has played a total of 38 games in the AHL, split between the Albany Devils and the Texas Stars, collecting one goal and three assists. Most recently, Faust has been playing in the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads where he has accumulated eight points, all assists, in 15 games this season.
The Faust PTO comes one day after the Comets announced that they had recalled defenseman Mackenze Stewart from Kalamazoo and the Canucks announcement that Anton Rodin was finished with the club.

With the Comets recently seeing Philip Holm recalled by Vancouver and Patrick Wiercioch sent back to Utica, it is anyone’s guess as to how head coach Trent Cull will line up his blueline.
