The Canucks have not been fun to watch thus far. This is probably because they are not a very good hockey team. Luckily, they are good at other things! For example, they are good at playing fun games of soccer with their friends and they are good at inviting dogs to watch them play hockey. So at least there’s that.
  • The Canucks usually warm up for games by playing some hallway soccer, which usually ends up with them climbing structures to track down lost soccer balls. In Montreal, they got to play soccer on an actual field, which meant fewer opportunities to lose balls and more opportunities to showcase their skills.

The Sedins are as good as one would expect. Jannik Hansen seems to frequently fall victim to Alex Edler, who is actually quite good at soccer. Bo Horvat is terrible. He is just terrible. Look at him. Poor kid.

  • Jacob Markstrom dressed up as a dinosaur to scare his teammates, who appear to frighten rather easily. Erik Gudbranson can’t believe Markstrom came to the rink early to do this, while Bo Horvat and Chris Tanev both almost jump out of their skin.
  • In more Halloween-related activity, a small group of Canucks visited Canuck Place to paint and carve pumpkins with the kids. Chris Tanev should stick to hockey, always. Baby Biega (to the tune of Raffi’s Baby Beluga) steals the show by furiously tossing a tiny pumpkin at the end of this video.

  • Check out this service dog that accompanied its owner to Rogers Arena! What a good dog!
  • Ben Hutton and Sven Baertschi would both love to snap the Canucks goal drought. For now though, this fun little pre-game handshake is a good way to pass the time.

  • Finally, for anyone who does not know, Craig Anderson’s wife Nicholle was diagnosed with cancer this week. He returned to the team to put up a 37 save shut-out and was named the first star in Edmonton. It was a lovely moment during an unbelievably difficult time for the Andersons.
