Overall, it was a good week for the Canucks rookies, though it did not come without its low points. Read on past the jump to catch up with all of the fun (and sometimes kind of mean) things that the Canucks did this week!
  • The video footage of McCann and Virtanen being told that they’ve made the Canucks is wild. The building soundtrack. The speeches. The emotional lows before triumph. The brotherhood. Bo Horvat’s harsh analysis comes across as very college-freshman-complaining-about-high-schoolers and is almost as good as the captions on the videos Willie shows the team: “your man blows right by mccann” “jake…..c’mon”. Even McCann’s gloves look sad by the end of the roast. Do yourself a favour and watch this video:
  • Jake Virtanen scores his first NHL goal and the celebratory scrum was pretty fun. Burrows is definitely on team face wash now, think later.
  • Ben Hutton truly cannot stop smiling. In a recent one-on-one with CTV, Hutton was asked to try not smiling. He did this:
  • He may not be as young as McCann, Hutton, and Virtanen, but Alex Edler is a rookie in his own way. Bo Horvat inquired about Edler’s history with carving pumpkins at last week’s Canuck Place carving contest and Edler’s response said it all. Congrats to Alex on finally carving a pumpkin.

  • Go behind the scenes with the Canucks in Dallas and Arizona. Brendan Gaunce was lucky enough to make his NHL debut in front of family and friends. Also fun is the giant poking device that the soccer players created to retrieve yet another misplaced ball.
  • Finally, the Sedins appear in the third part of the NHL’s “Not So Mean Tweets” series. These videos are weak and barely share-worthy, but Daniel not knowing who Sherri and Terri are adds a fun twist on the whole tired “haha the Sedin twins remind me of girls” thing. Do they not have the Simpsons in Sweden?
