Babych Please – Mar. 18th, 2016

Canucks Army’s transition from fact-based analysis blog to gossip blog takes another huge leap forward today as we take a look at Biebergate, Jared McCann’s hair, Thatcher Demko’s award show fashion choices, and more!
- The Bieber stuff is kind of fun. Last weekend, Jake Virtanen posted back-to-back Instagrams featuring himself with the Biebs. He said in an interview that Jared McCann made the introductions, which makes sense because Jared McCann and Justin Bieber are both from Stratford, Ontario. Since then, both Virtanen and McCann’s ice time has been rather limited. Is Willie holding Justin Bieber against them?
This is just speculation, but if “all situations” can translate into Bieber-related situations, what a fun addition this story would be to an already wild 2015/16 Canucks season. Virtanen has since deleted his Instagram posts (the internet is forever though) and locked both his Instagram and Twitter account. Some think that the Canucks told him to. This was be extra weird because they still have the repost of Virtanen’s original photo up on their official Instagram! Is the Bieber connection be the reason that these two are in Willie’s doghouse? Probably not. But it’s so fun thinking about Willie Desjardins getting mad about Justin Bieber!

- The Canucks tweeted this horrifying face-swap featuring Jared McCann and Ben Hutton. This photo really draws attention to how neat McCann’s hair is compared to Hutton’s. Keep it up, Jared.
- Nikita Tryamkin does not want to be called a tree so please stop calling him a tree:
One of the first things Tryamkin read about himself referred to him as a tree, which to North Americans means tough, secure and/or sturdy; it’s a compliment as most of us are twigs. He didn’t see it as such. To him, it meant he was big and slow without any versatility. It’s an insult in Russia. [via]
- In case you missed Jeff Paterson’s Canucks Army post about Hamhuis’ role as Team Dad, this quote from Dan about his daughters is pretty cute:
“My daughters get really excited to have these guys over – and it’s funny because they’re actually closer in age with these guys than I am. The girls create name tags and place mats for them and they organize games so the guys are down on the floor playing with them and the girls usually organize some sort of treasure hunt for them. While my wife and I are cooking dinner, they – I say ‘all the kids’ – are out playing games and having fun.”
- Virtanen and Hutton went head-to-head in teammate trivia this week and it wasn’t close. Some of the questions are kind of weak – Bowie Horvat is the only Canuck that could possibly be named after David Bowie, unless Jannik Hansen’s middle name is Ziggy Stardust or something – but the video is still fun. Hutton is such a jolly young man.
Those doghouse blues, man.

- Alex Edler was on Breakfast Television to promote the Canucks For Kids Fund telethon, which took place earlier this week. I think this is the first time in his nearly 10-year-old career that Edler has successfully told a joke in front of a camera, which is exciting for him.

- Emerson Etem loves five-pin bowling, knows a lot about art, and has a very cool full name (though it’s not as cool as Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla’s full name). Here he is telling you about himself while driving a Toyota:
- Finally, Thatcher Demko was awarded NCAA Hockey East’s Player of the Year award! More importantly, his bowtie:
