The Canucks won a game last night (really!) but remain oh so close to that precious 30th spot. Things are far from fun for this fanbase, but there are still good things to be found, such as a greasy Cinderella story, some information about Joey Kenward, and the Sbisa-Jigglypuff comparison that you never knew you needed until now.
  • The Canucks were asked to name their ideal dinner guests in the latest One More Question video. Most of these answers are pretty stock, though the image of Jannik Hansen sitting down with JFK is a fun one. “If you go back in history, I think there’s a lot of interesting people,” is the most Ryan Miller thing that Ryan Miller has ever said and Luca Sbisa is weird, in a fun way!
  • In a strange twist, Joey Kenward is the latest subject of King of the Rink. Alex Burrows, Ben Hutton, and Jacob Markstrom are asked to answer questions about the Canucks in-game host. I don’t know if anyone asked for this, but it’s cool that he loves nachos and golfing! Joey seems like a nice man.  
  • Sportsnet did a feature on Chris Tanev and his unlikely road to the NHL. It’s very sweet and there are some childhood photos from the last time Chris cut that greasy hair. Tanev crying after getting cut by a dozen or so teams and then going on to make it big is quite the Cinderella story – he’s even dubbed “the Henrik Sedin of defenseman” by Kevin Bieksa, who is still pumping Tanev’s tires all the way from SoCal. 
  • Tanev, now large enough to play in the NHL, revealed himself as a little superstitious by knocking on wood when the Canucks win streak in San Jose was brought up:

  • For a little while this week, the Canucks were Siri’s favourite hockey team. They have since been usurped by the Oilers, but the season isn’t over yet!
