WWYDW: Professional Tryout Season

The Canucks finally signed some players to professional tryouts. In case you missed yesterday’s news, they agreed to terms with Tuomo Ruutu, James Sheppard and Kevin Carr on tryout contracts.
Frankly, I can’t imagine they’re around for any other reason than the Canucks need bodies to meet the eight veteran minimum — and that’s okay! Still, I wouldn’t mind them taking a flyer on somebody who could actually make the club and play in a semi-meaningful role. And I’m of the mind that a few such players are still available for a tryout contract.
Maybe you think there are a few players that fit the bill too. That’s why I want to hear your take on professional tryouts. Do you see any of the Canucks three making the team? Are there any other players you’d like them to target? Make your voice heard!
Last week I asked: Tell me who you’re cheering for at the World Cup of Hockey and why!
Whackanuck:
I can’t get interested in this tourney. It’s not the lack of Canucks on any particular team – I’m just far more interested in the training camp and upcoming season. There’s not enough on the line either.
If forced to pick I’d take the NA Under 23
froger84:
Whichever team is playing Torts’ club.
Steampuck:
It’s a win-win. If the Swedes do well, then we don’t have to put up with the media going into overdrive on the Sedins being washed up (they’re not). If they don’t do well, we have some key players over 30 who are over-tired later in the season…
Rken23:
After watching NA pummel team Europe, basically will cheer for any team but NA. Watching that team epitomize the future of the NHL and recognizing that not a single Canuck was in its lineup made me despise them and all the fanbases from which they hail. Yes i am being bitter, but it really put into perspective just how big the mountain is we need to climb.
Despite my distaste for them however, there is no denying they are fun to watch.
