Vancouver Canucks waive Loui Eriksson, Sven Baertschi

3 years agoThe Vancouver Canucks have waived forwards Loui Eriksson and Sven Baertschi, the club announced Monday.
While both players are destined for the Canucks taxi squad, it signals that Eriksson’s time in Vancouver has taken another hit.
Signed to a massive deal in free agency in 2016, Eriksson has been nothing short of disappointing during his tenure. In 245 games with Vancouver, Eriksson has scored 38 goals and 89 points — a far cry from the production he mustered early on in his career.
Simply put, he hasn’t provided the Canucks with the value needed for his $6-million per year contract.
Baertchi, meanwhile, mustered a few good years of production in the bottom-six but has since not been the same player. He is entering the final year of a deal paying him $3.66-million a year.
The Canucks also waived four other players Monday:
- Justin Bailey, Right Wing
- Guillaume Brisebois, Defenceman
- Tyler Graovac, Left Wing
- Ashton Sautner, Defenceman
