The @Vancouver Canucks have made a splash days before the trade deadline and swung a trade for @Los Angeles Kings F @Tyler Toffoli.
The trade was broken by TSN’s Darren Dreger and TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports the Canucks are giving up @Tim Schaller, prospect @Tyler Madden, and a 2020 2nd round draft pick.
Toffoli’s name has been in trade talks all season long. The 27-year-old has gone onto score 18-16—34 in 58 games with the Canucks this season that included a hattrick in an outdoor game Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche — a game that appears to be his last in a Kings uniform.
Throughout his eight-year career, the 6′, 197 lb. Toffoli has 139 goals and another 151 assists in 515 games — a 46-point per 82 game pace.
Madden was drafted by the Canucks in the 3rd round of the 2018 draft and has been developing while playing for Northeastern University in the NCAA. This season, Madden has put up 19-18—37 in 27 games played.
Schaller, meanwhile, is in his second season with the Canucks and has scored 5-1—6 in 51 games this year.
According to Puckpedia, Toffoli is in the final year of a deal that pays him an AAV of $4.6-million. He will be a UFA at the end of the season.
