The Vancouver Canucks will carry their full bonus overages in the 2020-21 season, instead of splitting it over the next two years, as reported by The Athletic’s Thomas Drance.
The overages total $1.7-million and stem from @Elias Pettersson and @Quinn Hughes getting the maximum $850k each in Schedule A bonuses.
This is a smart move for the Canucks even though it tightens up the cap this year for them. Ahead of the 2021-22 season, the team has some bigger names to sign. Hughes and Pettersson both need new deals, while other players like @Alex Edler, @Jordie Benn, @Thatcher Demko, @Brandon Sutter and @Tanner Pearson need new deals.
