Vancouver Canucks prospect Jack Rathbone stretchered off ice after scary hit

2 years agoVancouver Canucks prospect Jack Rathbone was stretchered off the ice during an AHL game Wednesday night.
Rathbone, who is playing with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks, was hit from behind by Bakersfield Condors forward Colton Sceviour. Rathbone rose through the hit and into the boards before he fell to the ice motionless.
He was down on the ice for 13 minutes before being stretchered off the ice. Players from both teams were down on one knee while Rathbone was tended to, and all came over to him as he was taken off the ice.
Sceviour received a five-minute major for boarding and a 10-minute game misconduct.
Rathbone had assists on each of the Canucks’ two goals to that point in the game. He’s appeared in 18 games this year with the Abbotsford Canucks scoring five goals and 19 points. He’s seen nine games at the NHL level, but hasn’t scored a point.

UPDATE 8:19 AM: Rick Dhaliwal has reported that Rathbone has been discharged from the hospital.
