So far, the Canucks have selected a high-scoring Swedish winger, a versatile OHL centre, and the OHL’s leading goal scorer. And now, they’ve added Port Moody’s Parker Alcos to their 2024 NHL draft class with the 189th overall pick.

The 6’3 right-shot defenceman spent the past season with the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, where he tallied one goal and 14 assists through 67 games played. There seems to be serious shutdown d-man potential here.
The Elite Prospects draft guide had Alcos ranked 93rd overall. Here’s a snippet of what they had to say about him:
Looking for a shutdown defenceman with size, mobility, and potential for major growth? Parker Alcos is your guy. He breezed through big minutes with the Edmonton Oil Kings with a modern, projectable defensive game and flashes of offence.
Mobility forms the basis of Alcos’ game. He’s a fluid skater who achieves full flexion through his stride, retains most of it through his edges, and retains speed through his pivots and transitions. Mobility forms the basis of his detailed defensive game. He wins races on retrievals, controls contact, checks over both shoulders, and leaves pucks into space for a teammate.
Barring any trades, the Canucks have one pick left in this draft, and it’s set to come in the seventh round at 189th overall. We’ll continue to have up-to-the-minute coverage all day long!
